CortelazziDr. Louis L. Cortelazzi, D.D.S., 88, of Harrisburg died peacefully on Thursday, September 17, 2009 at the Community General Osteopathic Hospital.
He was born in Natrona, PA and after graduating from Hummelstown High School, he worked for North American Aviation in Englewood, CA where he helped build the B25 and P51 airplanes. He was also a graduate from Aero Industries Technical Institute. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during WWII as a paratrooper. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Dental School in 1953 and served the Harrisburg area for over 35 years as a dentist. He also loved part time work at the District Attorney's Office in the Dauphin County Court and he also enjoyed working at the garden center at WalMart.
He was a member of St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church and was a 4th Degree Knight with the Bishop J. W. Shanahan Assembly.
Dr. Cortelazzi was a gentle man who loved his grandchildren and playing golf.
Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Theresa Grace Cortelazzi; a daughter, Rosemarie Bell; a son, Louis L. Cortelazzi, Jr. and wife Cheryl; a brother, Edward Cortelazi and wife Theresa; a sister, Doris Hogentogler; and three grandchildren, Justin Bell, Andrew and Kristen Cortelazzi.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:15AM at St. Catherine Laboure Church.
Burial will be in Hershey Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10-11:15AM on Tuesday prior to Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Francis Soup Kitchen 1439 Market St. Harrisburg PA 17103.
