VanBunskirkWarren VanBuskirk, 58, of Duncannon, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2009. He is the son of the late Russell VanBuskirk and Frances VanBuskirk of Newfoundland, Pennsylvania. He is survived by his wife Irene and his daughter Schiavon at home, his son Jason and two grandchildren of Greentown, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by his sister Barbara of Newfoundland, Pennsylvania. He was predeceased by his son, Neal S. VanBuskirk.

Warren currently was serving as a Perry County Commissioner. During his tenure he was the Board Chairman for Perry County Food Bank. He retired as a Lieutenant with the Pennsylvania State Police in 2005. In addition to his other duties, Warren served as a Commander at the Newport Station for eight years. He was an active member of The Church of the Nativity and Saint Stephen in Newport. He was a Director of the Pennsylvania Equine Council and was an avid hunter and fisherman.


A visitation will be held Friday evening from 6 to 9 PM at Highland Presbyterian Church on 11 Church Road in Newport. Services will be held at the same location on Saturday at 9:30 AM. Entombment will be held at 12:15 PM on Saturday in Resurrection Cemetery on 116 S. Oak Grove Road in Harrisburg. He will be placed beside his son, Neal. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Neal S. VanBuskirk Memorial Foundation c/o The Church of the Nativity and St. Stephen, 159 South Second Street, Newport, Pennsylvania 17074.
