Many families ask us “May we write the obituary for the newspaper?” The answer of course is “yes” for our local newspaper called The Patriot. ChesekLillian F. Chesek, 82 of Harrisburg died peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday at Select Specialty Hospital, Harrisburg PA. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter to the late Benjamin Campo and Pauline (Migliorino) Campo.
She was a graduate of West Scranton High School, a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic church and served as a Past President of the Council of Catholic Women and the church's Golden Age Club as the Sunshine Committee Chairman. She was a former program chairman and chaplain of the Lower Paxton Township Senior Citizens Club, a member of the Friendship Senior Center, former member of the Ridgeview Garden Club, volunteered with projects at the Harrisburg State Hospital, and was active in the Bell Telephone Pioneers. She was also a Cub Scout Den Mother, an active member of the St. Margaret Mary Rosary Group and was the former President of the Scampers Chapter of the National Campers and Hikers Assn.
She was a former employee of Sears in Colonial Park and the PA Dept. of Revenue.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Chesek in 2001.
Surviving are her children, Robert E., Thomas V. and wife Sharon, Anita L. Chesek, and Ralph R. Chesek; 2 sisters, Rose Moran of West Pittston and Ann Marek of Chicago; 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 6-8PM on Tuesday at Dailey Funeral Home, Penbrook. The Rosary will be recited at 5:30PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 9:30AM at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church.
Burial will be in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton PA.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Margaret Mary Church Building Fund.
