Mary SimpsonMary C. Simpson, 60, of Harrisburg passed away Monday, December 7, 2009, in the Carlisle Regional Medical Center, after a long struggle with her health.

Mary was preceded in death be her father, William P. Simpson, and her brother, James L. Simpson. Mary is survived by her mother, E. Delia Simpson; her son, Dylan James Wagner; her daughter, Valerie A. Betz with husband Logan E. Betz, all of Harrisburg; her sisters, Martha Simpson Hurwitz of Henderson, NV and Susan Gallina Simpson of Glendale, NY; as well as her brothers, Stephen G. Simpson, Philip C. Simpson, both of Harrisburg and Andrew R. Simpson of San Francisco, CA.

 Born in Harrisburg on September 9, 1949, Mary was a 1967 graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School, a graduate of Harrisburg Area Community College, and a retired Systems Analyst for the State of Pennsylvania, Department of Education with over 30 years of service. Since retirement, Mary was a member of PARSE, the local AARP chapter, the community book club and spent time volunteering with local organizations.

 Mary was a sweet, intelligent and witty woman who loved spending time with her children. She enjoyed board games, crossword puzzles, television, dining out, caring for her cats and feeding the birds. Mary always loved to learn new things and her interests included computers, gardening, knitting, stained glass, and amateur collecting.

 Mary's children would like to thank their family and friends for all of the cards, visits, kindness and prayers over the last couple of years.

 A memorial service will be celebrated on Monday, December 14, 2009 at 1:00 pm in the Dailey Funeral Home, 650 S. 28th Street, Penbrook. A visitation will be held starting at 12:00 noon preceding the memorial service. A graveside interment at Resurrection Cemetery, 116 S. Oak Grove Road, Harrisburg, will follow.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the American Heart Association.
