Veronica "Ronnie" M. Halbleib passed away peacefully on Monday, December 21, 2009 at Golden Living Nursing Home, Camp Hill. She was 84 years old.
Born May 14, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Webster and Caroline (O'Brien) Bennett, and the widow of James Cooper Halbleib. Veronica was born and raised in Harrisburg and graduated from Catholic High School (Bishop McDevitt) in 1944. She retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation after twenty years.
Veronica is survived by nine children, James (Lisa Bernard) Halbleib, San Mateo, CA; John (Jeanne) Halbleib , Lemont, IL; Joan (David) Waite, Colorado Springs, CO; Eleanor Anne Halbleib, Wilmington, NC; Jerome Michael Halbleib, Birmingham, AL; Jean Halbleib, Harrisburg, PA; Mary (Wayne Bruce) Magaro, Hummelstown, PA; Dorothy (Robert) Rosenberry, Fulton, MD; and Robert (Patricia) Halbleib, Hughesville, MD; 24 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, John Bennett and Herman Bennett.
Veronica was preceded in death by a daughter, Veronica Matio; a son-in-law, Wayne Matio; two infant sons, both named Joseph Halbleib; four brothers, Webster Bennett, Angus Bennett, Joseph Bennett and Fred Bennett; and two sisters, Elizabeth Ann Bennett and Caroline Wilson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 AM on Thursday, December 24th at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 6150 Allentown Blvd., Harrisburg. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary cemetery, 500 South 13th St., Harrisburg. Visitation will be held 6 to 8 PM, December 23rd at Gilbert L. Dailey Funeral Home, 650 South 28th St., Harrisburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, WWW.ALZ.ORG.
