Many families ask us “May we write the obituary for the newspaper?” The answer of course is “yes” for our local newspaper called The Patriot. sullivanDaniel A Sullivan ,Jr. 84 of Harrisburg died peacefully on Monday evening at Golden Living Center, Camp Hill.
Born on 8/23/1925, in New York to the late Daniel A Sullivan, Sr and Janette Van Scoyc Sullivan, he grew up in Corpus Christy TX and then made his home in Harrisburg at age 16.
He was a sales representative for the D & H Distribution Company for a number of years and later was self employed. He was a member of the Progress Home Association Club,Maennerchor Club, American Legion Post 1001, and a 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus. He served in the U.S. army as a Sergeant.
He was a graduate of John Harris High School and a member of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament serving the church as an usher for many years.
He loved sports, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh Steelers, and the New York Yankees. He loved music and played the drums. His dry, unique whit will be forever missed by his friends, family and loved ones.
Surviving is his loving wife of 52 years, Dolores C Corsnitz Sullivan; a son Robert E Smisl and his wife Karen; daughters, Maureen Sullivan and her friend Harry Walls; Sherry Sullivan Morrow and her husband Mike; 2 grandchildren, Zachary and Marisa Morrow; 2 brothers, Thomas J Sullivan and wife Nancy; Charles Sullivan and his wife Rose; 2 sisters, Mary Sullivan Shaw and her husband Fred and Janette Sullivan as well as several nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held on Monday, April 26, 2010 from 1-2 PM at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 PM at the church on Monday.
Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church.
The Dailey Funeral Home is honored to serve the Sullivan family.
